The Team Behind Your Climb
Kilimania is built around a local Tanzanian team that works directly with travelers before, during and after a trip — not a booking desk passing your details to someone else. The same people who answer your questions by WhatsApp or email are the people coordinating your climb or safari from Moshi.
Guides, cooks and porters are based here and work together on a rotating basis depending on route, dates and group size. The sections below introduce the guiding team and the safari drivers who make that happen.
The Experience Behind Kilimania
Sabinus Msimba begins working on Kilimanjaro as a porter, at age 17, on the Marangu Route.
Sabinus becomes a KINAPA-licensed mountain guide.
Kilimania Adventures Limited is registered as a Tanzanian company on 30 October 2017 (Business Registration No. 437131).
Sabinus completes Wilderness First Responder certification.
Kilimania continues guiding climbers on Kilimanjaro and operating Tanzania safaris, Zanzibar trips and local day tours, from our base in Moshi.

Senior Kilimanjaro Guide & Co-founder
Sabinus’s Kilimanjaro career didn’t start behind a desk. It started as a porter in 2001, at 17 years old, carrying loads on the Marangu Route. That work taught him the mountain from the bottom up before he ever led a client — and it’s a reason Kilimania takes porter treatment as seriously as guiding standards.
He became a KINAPA-licensed guide in 2003, and in the years since has personally summited Uhuru Peak more than 300 times and ascended Mount Meru 47 times. In 2024 he completed Wilderness First Responder certification. According to Kilimania’s own operational records for 2019–2025, he and the team have guided 1,247+ climbers.

We don’t position Kilimania as the cheapest operator on the mountain. When comparing Kilimanjaro prices, we’d recommend looking beyond the headline figure and checking the itinerary length, inclusions, crew arrangements and safety planning behind it — those are what actually drive the difference between quotes. Value, to us, means:

Safety Is a Process, Not a Slogan
Kilimanjaro is a genuinely demanding high-altitude climb. We don’t claim it’s risk-free, and we don’t promise a summit — nobody honestly can. What we do is manage the risk that can be managed: experienced guides, realistic acclimatization built into the itinerary, daily health awareness on the mountain, and a willingness to make turnaround decisions when conditions call for it.

The People Who Make the Mountain Possible
A Kilimanjaro climb runs on guides, cooks and porters as much as it runs on the person walking to the summit. Sabinus started as a porter himself, and that shapes how the crew is treated. We aim to provide appropriate workloads, suitable equipment, clear payment arrangements and respectful working conditions for our mountain crew.
Our guiding team includes Kanti Kessy (Safari Lead), Isack Mlala, John Akaro, Martini Minja, Daudi Bayo, Davide Kimario, Saimon Bashemera and Louis Salvatory, supported by our cook team led by Shafii Ramadhani, and our porter team.
