The Marangu Route, often called the “Coca-Cola Route,” is one of the oldest and most popular routes on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is the only route that offers hut accommodation, making it a comfortable option for climbers who prefer sleeping in huts rather than tents.
The Marangu Route can be climbed in 5 or 6 days, but Kilimania Adventure strongly recommends the 6 Days Marangu Route because it includes an extra acclimatization day at Horombo Hut, significantly improving summit success.
Yes. The Marangu Route is suitable for fit beginners with proper preparation. The gradual ascent, clear trail, and hut accommodation make it one of the more comfortable routes for first-time Kilimanjaro climbers.
The Marangu Route is considered moderate in difficulty. No technical climbing skills are required, but altitude, long trekking days, and summit night still make it physically challenging.
When climbed over 6 days with proper acclimatization and experienced guides from Kilimania Adventure, the Marangu Route offers a good summit success rate. The extra acclimatization day plays a key role in this success.
