The Crater Camp Route is the most exclusive Kilimanjaro climb, allowing climbers to sleep inside the volcanic crater near Uhuru Peak. It offers excellent acclimatization, incredible summit success rates, and a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The Northern Circuit Route is the longest and least crowded route on Kilimanjaro. It approaches from the north, loops around the mountain, and provides maximum acclimatization and solitude with spectacular scenery.
Both routes offer very high summit success rates, but the Crater Camp Route requires higher fitness and experience due to the extreme summit night and altitude. Northern Circuit provides a longer, gradual ascent, ideal for those prioritizing acclimatization.
The Northern Circuit Route is more beginner-friendly due to its longer acclimatization, despite its 9-day length. The Crater Camp Route is best for climbers with previous high-altitude experience.
Both routes are very low in crowds, but the Northern Circuit is slightly more remote and rarely used, offering maximum solitude. Crater Camp is extremely exclusive due to limited permits.
